3 Tips to Start Winning More Football Bets

Have you recently gotten into betting on football, but have still yet to see any substantial winnings? Then you may just be going about it the wrong way. Placing the right bets and making a solid profit from them is by no means easy, and getting to know all the pitfalls of sports betting will take you years of failing if you try to do it on your own. Instead, read on as we go through three valuable tips for making better bets. You’ll be surprised how quickly your bets will start paying off with just a few simple adjustments.

Compare Odds to Maximise Your Wins

Before you start placing your bets, it’s important to make sure that you’re choosing the best place to do so. Many beginners tend to focus on picking the right outcome to bet on and then just choose whichever site they come across first to place it on – when in actuality, they should be giving equal amounts of attention to both choices.

The first bookmaker you find is not necessarily the one with the best odds. Sure, the usual suspects at the top of your Google search look safe. But there are many other, albeit lesser known sites out there. For instance, NetBet offers betting and casino games and are just as trustworthy – and who knows? They may very well offer the best odds out there for your next bet.

Keep Up With Team and Player News

Next, if you want to consistently take home big wins from your bets, you need to stay updated. Because if your info isn’t correct, detailed and fresh, how will you ever accurately guess the outcome of a game – other than by pure coincidence, which is impossible to replicate for your next bet?

Instead, make sure to follow and regularly check all relevant channels of information on your favourite team and their players. For instance, if you’re betting on one or two star players to save your team next season, knowing if they’re in transfer negotiations is of utmost importance. Or, even worse, if a key player gets injured before a big match, it can greatly affect the outcome – and either make you a lot of money or leave you broke.

Research and Listen to the Experts

Last, but not least, don’t solely rely on your own analyses and the opinions of friends, family and other football fans. While you may often be right, there’s no getting around that, as enthusiastic fans, you’re bound to be biased. Focusing on the performance of your favourite team is completely natural, but it may blind you from their faults and distract you from seeing potential in other teams.

To get the full picture, we recommend that you find a few trustworthy expert sources to go to for second opinions. Many newspapers – like, for instance, The Telegraph – have pages dedicated to betting tips and analyses, and during pre-game coverage, networks will usually do live interviews with experienced experts as well.

Besides this, there are countless blogs, YouTube channels and many other types of communities out there for you to sift through for betting research. All in all, there’s really no excuse for placing an uninformed bet. So get to work!

Phil Hay: Leeds eye Charles De Ketelaere

Leeds United are indeed interested in Club Brugge attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere…

What’s the word?

That’s according to the ever-reliable Phil Hay of The Athletic, who delivered a fresh claim to supporters on Twitter, revealing the club’s interest in the Belgium international.

“Leeds United are very much in the running for Charles De Ketelaere and want to make it happen, despite AC Milan’s interest. Leicester City too. He’s become hot property,” he tweeted alongside an accompanying article.

It remains to be seen how much the 21-year-old would command and if the Jupiler Pro League outfit are open to selling. Transfermarkt currently value De Ketelaere at £27m.

Huge coup

Just as Hay claims, the Club Brugge sensation is hot property across Europe, so if the Yorkshire giants were able to secure his signature, then it would be something of a coup for the club.

The Belgian star is capable of playing in a multitude of positions, all whilst still being able of delivering goals and assists. Last season, for example, De Ketelaere was deployed in seven different roles and produced 18 goals and ten assists across 49 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

Although, as per Belgian journalist Sven Claes via The Athletic, his best role may be as a no. 8 or no. 10.

“He is actually an infiltrating No 8 or No 10, but rarely plays in this position,” he said, before later adding: “He is already really phenomenal in handling the ball. His decisions under pressure are often very impressive. He also knows how to use his body well in duels despite not being a block of concrete, and has unexpected movements.”

Leeds have lacked this sort of presence in attacking midfield for quite some time, failing to replace Samu Saiz and then Pablo Hernandez. The arrival of Brenden Aaronson takes a big step in resolving this but adding De Ketelaere too would certainly make Jesse Marsch’s men a real force to be reckoned with.

His playing style has earned plenty of comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne, his fellow countryman and a multiple Premier League winner.

“De Ketelaere’s style is reminiscent of De Bruyne. He is intelligent and possesses great vision and a superb passing range. His dribbling is similar to De Bruyne’s too. Eventually, he should take his place for Belgium,” De Krant van West-Vlaanderen journalist Frans Buyse told BBC Sport.

Also dubbed a “complete” midfielder by legendary Club Brugge midfielder Gert Verheyen, supporters around Elland Road should be hugely excited by these links to the 21-year-old gem, especially coming from one of the most reliable sources in the game.

Man City must land David Raum transfer

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has coached a significant number of players throughout his senior managerial career at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the Citizens.

One man in particular who enjoyed a successful period under the Spaniard’s guidance is Dani Alves.

With appearances, the Brazilian scored 15 goals and delivered 68 assists along the way, highlighting how useful an attacking talent he was for the team.

Now that Guardiola is set to begin his seventh season in charge of Manchester City, the current summer transfer period could give the 51-year-old the chance to sign what could be his next version of Alves.

Last month, it was reported that City have made an enquiry over the availability of Hoffenheim left-back David Raum.

Having scored six goals and supplied 23 assists in 99 senior appearances for his previous employers Greuther Furth, the defender joined his current club last summer.

In his debut campaign at Hoffenheim, the 24-year-old provided 13 assists and scored three times in 35 games. This highlights just how dangerous he has been from the full-back position, just as Alves was for Barcelona under Guardiola.

This also makes it easy to see why the Brazilian has been included on a list of similar players to Raum according to Football Transfers.

To further highlight how deadly he can be going forward, no other player at Hoffenheim ended the previous Bundesliga season with a higher average of key passes per game (2.1) or overall performance rating (7.16/10) than the 24-year-old, according to WhoScored.

With all this in mind, it’s easy to see why Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen described Raum’s debut campaign at the club as “outstanding”. It also makes it understandable why the Premier League champions reportedly asked the German outfit about the defender’s availability this summer.

While a £35m price tag has been suggested, this could be a deal worth completing for City this summer in order to give them even more firepower and supply Guardiola with what could well be his next version of Alves.

David would be a big Ings upgrade at Villa

Aston Villa were credited with an interest in Lille striker Jonathan David earlier in the summer transfer window, and the Canada international would represent a big upgrade on Danny Ings in Steven Gerrard’s side.

It was suggested that both West Ham and Villa were interested in signing the forward this summer, while the Premier League was touted as his next destination after successful spells in France and Belgium.

The 22-year-old is highly regarded in world football and enjoyed another impressive season with Lille in 2021/22, scoring 15 goals in 38 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Dogues.

By contrast, goals were hard to come by for Ings following his £25m switch from Southampton last summer, as he managed just seven in 30 Premier League appearances.

The Englishman also averaged fewer shots, dribbles and key passes per game than David, which suggests that the 22-year-old has the edge on the former Liverpool man in terms of all-round play.

While the Canadian would represent a fairly expensive option for Gerrard, with reports suggesting that he would cost £42.5m, he is seven years younger than Ings and appears to have a much higher ceiling, so he could really add some attacking quality to the Villans ahead of the new season.

During David’s time with Gent, for whom he racked up 37 goals and 15 assists in just 82 appearances, manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck was full of praise for him, saying: “He is a phenomenon. The best player in the country.”

The young striker has managed to maintain a similar scoring rate during his time in France, hitting 32 goals in 95 appearances for Les Dogues, helping them to win the French title in the 2020/21 season.

 [freshpress-quiz id=“659225”]

Therefore, there seems little to suggest that he wouldn’t be a success in the Premier League next season, and he appears to be a significant upgrade on Ings, both in the short run and the long-term.

If a deal for the young Canada striker can be done, then Johan Lange should definitely try and bring him to Villa Park.

Fabrizio Romano drops Broja update

Everton have been heavily linked with a move for Armando Broja this summer, and now a new update has emerged from a reliable source that could be a huge problem for the Toffees in their pursuit of the player.

What’s the latest?

According to Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have submitted a bid for Everton transfer target Broja.

Romano tweeted: “Chelsea manager Tuchel: ‘Armando Broja’s our player first of all, and as of now we have no interest in selling him. He’s here to make an impression,’ Tuchel added. West Ham have submitted a €35m (£30m) bid for Broja, but it’s up to Chelsea now.”

Supporters will be livid

There is no doubt that Romano’s update will leave Everton supporters livid as Broja has been linked with a move to Goodison Park on numerous occasions and could be the answer to filling the Richarlison-shaped hole in the team.

It won’t be just the supporters that will be frustrated with the news of the Hammers approach, Frank Lampard is a huge admirer and has reportedly identified the player as the number one target to sign this summer.

The Everton boss is no stranger to the young Chelsea striker as he played a part in giving Broja his platform in the Premier League, giving him his debut back in 2020, and since then the Albania international has gone from strength to strength.

Last season, the 20-year-old joined Southampton on a season-long loan and continued to develop his talents under the watchful eye of Ralf Hasenhuttl, finishing the season as the second highest-scoring player in the squad.

Over 32 Premier League appearances, Broja scored six goals and created two big chances, as well as taking an average of 1.4 shots, making one successful dribble and winning five duels per game. Furthermore, the Saints striker ranked third for the most aerial duels won in the opposition half throughout the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

With that being said, Lampard will surely be keen for Farhad Moshiri to now step in to table a bid that can beat West Ham to the signing of Broja, as Everton are desperate to bring in a player that can make up for the goal contributions that will be lost from last season’s top-scorer Richarlison.

Spurs receive Tanguy Ndombele interest

Tanguy Ndombele could finally have a way out of Tottenham Hotspur…

What’s the word?

According to Romagiallorossa, AS Roma are planning to hold talks over a potential move for the out-of-favour Spurs midfielder, with his former manager Jose Mourinho keen for a reunion in the Italian capital.

Lilywhites sporting director Fabio Paratici is currently in Italy to discuss several transfer dealings, both incomings and outgoings, and Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo is a player that is expected to come up in discussions.

The Serie A outfit could get Ndombele in return and it’s thought that they are keen on a loan deal that contains an obligation to buy.

Time’s up for Ndombele

If this interest is genuine, then the north Londoners must not hesitate to get rid of the £55m flop.

Over the last three years, under four different managers, the ex-Lyon dynamo has struggled to make his mark and cement a regular place in the starting lineup.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more-2″ title=”Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

His performances have been inconsistent, whilst his attitude has often been questioned, which is why current boss Antonio Conte wants him nowhere near the first-team squad, having left him out of their pre-season schedule.

As per Transfermarkt, Ndombele has only been able to deliver ten goals and nine assists across 91 appearances, which is an average of one goal contribution every three games. And that isn’t good enough for a club-record signing.

He went back to Lyon in January but failed to refind the form that earned him a move to the Premier League. Instead, the Ligue 1 outfit opted for an injury-prone Corentin Tolisso on a free transfer; a rather damning indictment on the Spurs star.

Ndombele is Tottenham’s joint-highest earner on around £200k-per-week, so when you factor in his salary (excluding the few months he was out on loan: £27.6m) with that astronomical £55m fee, then he has burned an £82.6m hole in the ENIC group’s pocket.

Once dubbed “very lazy” by Alan Hutton and “disgraceful” by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, it’s clear that Ndombele has no future at Spurs, so it’s time for Paratici to secure his exit as soon as possible.

Roma’s mooted interest is a complete blessing for everyone concerned with the Lilywhites. Ndombele must be sold.

AND in other news, Paratici given green light to seal “extraordinary” £34m Spurs signing, Conte needs him…

Spurs boss Conte eyes next priority

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has his sights set on another addition this summer transfer window…

What’s the word?

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the Italian head coach would like further defensive reinforcements before deadline day on September 1st.

He told Football FanCast: “It does seem that Antonio Conte would like to bring in an extra centre-back, just to provide cover and competition.

“Pau Torres would be a great signing because I think he proved in the Champions League last season that he’s probably one of the top defenders in Europe.”

The Spain international is just one of several names that the north Londoners have been linked to in recent weeks. Despite the arrival of Clement Lenglet on loan from FC Barcelona, the Villarreal ace remains a key target, as per The Mirror.

Paratici must strike

If it’s another centre-back that Conte wants, then sporting director Fabio Paratici must deliver another masterclass as he has done with the signing of Cristian Romero, who has become an instant hit in N17.

Spurs will be competing in multiple competitions, both domestically and on the European stage, and given that the Italian head coach likes to deploy a three-at-the-back system, then it makes sense to have strength in depth.

Lenglet provides competition for Ben Davies as his only left-footed defensive options, but behind the likes of Romero and Eric Dier, there is little quality.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more-2″ title=”Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

Torres is certainly one name who could improve that situation tenfold.

Once lauded as an “extraordinary talent” by his former youth coach Javi Calleja, the 25-year-old excels as a ball-playing defender. When compared to his positional peers across Europe, he ranks within the top 1% for dribbles completed (0.80), and the top 10% for both progressive passes (4.39) and progressive carries (4.71) per 90 (via FBref).

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for RB Leipzig gem Josko Gvardiol, who has been touted as a future star.

“Since he was a child, he’s been built like a tank. He can go forward, he can jump, he can tackle – he can do everything you want,” once claimed Germania Sport assistant editor Izak Ante Sucic.

Either of the two would add substantial quality to Spurs’ squad, particularly with Torres as he has proven experience in both the Champions League and the Europa League, having won the latter competition in 2020/21.

It’s now on Paratici to deliver the goods for a seventh time this summer.

Nottingham Forest see double bid rejected

Nottingham Forest have seen a €10m (£8.3m) double bid for William Carvalho and Alex Moreno rejected by Real Betis, according to a new transfer update.

The Lowdown: Forest linked with Betis duo

The Reds have been linked with moves for both Carvalho and Moreno in recent days, as Steve Cooper looks to continue a relentless transfer window at the City Ground ahead of their Premier League return next weekend.

Carvalho is seen as someone who could add huge experience and stature to Forest’s midfield, while Moreno is considered another strong left-back option.

A fresh update suggests that Cooper will keep trying to get his latest two targets, although things aren’t too successful at the moment.

The Latest: Double bid rejected

According to ABC Sevilla [via Sport Witness], Betis have turned down a double bid worth €10m (£8.3m) for Carvalho and Moreno, with the La Liga club deeming Forest’s offer ‘insufficient’.

The bid was ‘rejected outright’, with a significant increase needed if the Andalucian club are to part ways with the sought-after duo.

The Verdict: Keep trying on Carvalho?

In truth, Forest were arguably being a little too optimistic expecting to get Carvalho and Moreno for less than £9m, given their respective pedigree as footballers.

Instead, the Reds may be best to focus solely on bringing in Carvalho, considering that Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo already have left-back covered, despite the former’s current injury absence.

The Portugal international could make a huge difference at the heart of the midfield, protecting the Reds’ defence against menacing Premier League attacks, having averaged 1.5 tackles per game in La Liga last season and winning 2.5 aerial duels per match for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League over the summer.

Meanwhile, Moreno played the fourth-most league minutes of anyone at Betis in 2021/22, so it’s easy to see why they would be reluctant to let him leave on the cheap.

Leeds: Orta dealt blow in McAtee pursuit

Leeds United have been dealt a blow in their bid to bring James McAtee to Elland Road this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by the Daily Mail, who claim that, despite the interest of Premier League trio Leeds, AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, it is Sheffield United who currently lead the race for the Manchester City midfielder’s signature on a season-long loan.

The report goes on to state that the Championship side are now in talks with both Pep Guardiola’s side and the 19-year-old regarding the terms of his temporary switch to Bramall Lane, with the Blades hoping that the England U20 international will have a similar impact to that of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White – who spent last season on loan at United.

Orta must move

While it is true that Victor Orta has already confirmed the signings of central midfielders Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi this summer, considering just how exciting a prospect McAtee undoubtedly is, in addition to the fact that the 19-year-old is incredibly versatile positionally, it would appear an extremely wise move for the Spaniard to launch a late move for the teenager.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-united-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-much-more” title= “Read the latest Leeds news, transfer rumours and more!”]

Indeed, the £2.7m-rated talent is one of the brightest starlets currently in City’s academy setup, having scored 14 goals and provided eight assists over 33 fixtures for the U18s, bagged three goals over two outings for the U19s and notched 27 goals and 19 assists over 52 appearances for the U23s – averaging a goal involvement every 90 minutes for the club’s youth sides.

Furthermore, while the vast majority of the £3.1k-per-week midfielder’s appearances have come from attacking midfield, the youngster has also been deployed 31 times in central midfield, eight times as a centre-forward, three times at left midfield, once at right midfield and once on the left wing – proving that he would provide Jesse Marsch with cover in a number of different positions next season.

As such, while it would appear as if Sheffield United are currently in the driving seat for the player who Jordan Elgott dubbed “stunning”, considering just how exciting a prospect McAtee is, it would appear highly advisable for Orta to do everything in his power to land the 19-year-old ahead of the Blades this summer, as the teenager would certainly make a stunning addition to Marsch’s options at Elland Road ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Crystal Palace in for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

With the first game week of the Premier League done and dusted, managers now have time to reassess their squad and figure out where exactly they still need to strengthen.

Crystal Palace suffered an unfortunate loss to Arsenal at Selhurst Park, and despite threatening in the second half, it was the two goals they conceded which saw them run out 2-0 losers.

Dougie Freedman has already brought in a host of talent this summer, with Malcolm Ebiowei, Sam Johnstone, Chris Richards and Cheick Doucoure improving every facet of his squad.

One area which does not now need improving is right-back, although rumours linking the club to a loan move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka persist.

The Manchester United defender left Selhurst Park in 2019 and has struggled due to his lack of offensive output.

From a business point of view, bringing back a player on a temporary basis after receiving £50m for his services would be shrewd. However, from a tactical point of view, it would be a mistake for Palace, who under Patrick Vieira have evolved from the defensive football that helped the England man rise to prominence.

His performances last season led him to lose his place in statistically the worst United team ever, only managing 20 appearances and not registering a single goal or assist.

Creating just one big chance during this period outlines him as a truly abject offensive full-back, and in the modern game, it has become something of a prerequisite.

To compare him with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who recorded 12 assists last season, makes for depressing reading for the Red Devils, who forked out £50m for his services.

It would be a romantic decision to re-sign him, but a clueless footballing one. He has been labelled “terrible” for his performances on numerous occasions, with his defensive work supposedly his only saving grace.

The £83k-per-week disappointment would offer nothing that Palace do not already have, and if he was to get a run in the side, it would have a detrimental effect on the way they would play.

Too often for United he has found himself in decent positions, but his final ball has been aimless, outlined in his 23% accurate crossing rate.

He would blunt the edge of a vibrant Eagles attack, and Vieira must steer well clear of the defender who they should be glad is not a part of their club.
