Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently 17th in the Premier League table and are fighting to avoid a relegation back down to the Championship.

They have a nine-point lead over Ipswich Town in 18th, after their 2-1 win over Southampton last time out, and are currently on course to avoid the drop once again.

The Old Gold have been in the top-flight of English football since they earned promotion to the division under Nuno Espirito Santo in the summer of 2018.

Their initial survival in their first year back in the Premier League was massively helped by their recruitment, as they snapped up Raul Jimenez ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

The club reportedly smashed their club-record transfer fee to bring the Mexico international to the Molineux for a fee of £30m from Portuguese giants Benfica.

Jimenez hit the ground running in the Midlands with a return of 17 goals and seven assists in all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign, and 21 goals and nine assists in the following season.

The Mexican marksman went on to score 57 goals and provide 23 assists in 166 appearances in all competitions for Wolves, before his permanent move to Fulham in the summer of 2023.

Jimenez provided a big threat as both a scorer and a creator of goals in his first two seasons at the club, scoring 40 goals, and that helped them to avoid the drop in their first two years – setting them up to become an established side in the league.

Wolves have now hit the jackpot with their best signing since the former Benfica man by snapping up Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid for a reported £44m deal at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, following a six-month loan spell.

The 25-year-old attacker, described as “sensational” by reporter Samuel Luckhurst, produced 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions last season, and has managed 15 goals and four assists this term.

The Brazil international is also unfortunate to only have four assists in the current campaign because he has created a whopping 12 ‘big chances’ for his teammates in the Premier League.

Cunha is the only Wolves player since Jimenez, in his first two seasons at the club, to hit double figures for goals in the Premier League, with 12 last term and 14 this season, since their return to the top-flight in 2018.

He could also become a big-money sale for Wolves this summer amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who are said to be willing to pay his £62m release clause, which is another reason why the Old Gold have hit the jackpot with the Brazilian.

Later, at the post-match ceremony, she called the standard of umpiring “pathetic”.ESPNcricinfo has learned that the match officials have recommended three demerit points for equipment damage and one demerit point for criticising the match officials in public. The final decision will be taken by the ICC. It is understood that the BCCI has been talking to the ICC on the matter.As per the ICC’s rules, when a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points. Harmanpreet was found guilty of a Level 1 offence, which she had accepted.Players breaking the stumps – either with the bat or by kicking them – while reacting to umpiring decisions is a rare occurrence in cricket. Coincidentally, the most recent case also happened in Bangladesh. In 2021, Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan was suspended for three matches and fined US$ 5800 (approx.) during a Dhaka Premier League T20 match between Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club.Shakib, who was leading Mohammedan, kicked the stumps immediately after umpire Imran Parvez turned down his lbw appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim.
