Leeds looking to the future with Morgan Sadler

Leeds United are close to signing highly-rated Bury teenager Morgan Sadler after beating a number of Premier League clubs to his signature, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

What’s the story?

The 15-year-old defender has impressed for Bury’s U18 side and has attracted interest from top clubs including Fulham according to Football Insider.

The centre-back was a part of the Manchester City setup after they spotted the young talent at the age of 13, but he moved to Gigg Lane shortly afterwards.

Now Leeds are reportedly in talks with the young talent as they look to strengthen their famous academy that has produced the likes of Danny Rose, Lewis Cook, James Milner and Ronaldo Vieira.

One for the future

Leeds fans shouldn’t expect to see Sadler in action for the first-team at any time soon but judging by the interest in the 15-year-old, it should be worth the wait.

With the apparent progress the club is making at the moment with their new brand of exciting and attacking football under a manager with vision for the club, it’s good to see the club are still looking towards the future.

Everton fans want Salah banned following controversial Liverpool penalty

Mohamed Salah tends to make the headlines when Liverpool succeed, but he was the major talking point for a controversial reason during Monday night’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace. The Egyptian international was awarded a penalty, which some Everton fans thought was unjust. It is no surprise that sections of the Toffees’ following were against Michael Oliver’s decision to point to the spot given the rivalry between the Merseyside clubs.Salah hit the deck after a challenge from Mamadou Sakho, who appeared to kick out twice in an attempt to get the ball. The defender definitely got a touch on the Liverpool attacker, but it sparked a debate on whether it was enough for Salah to go down.James Milner converted from the spot and Sadio Mane later rounded off the victory for the Reds, who have a 100% record two games into the Premier League season.[brid autoplay=”true” video=”280645″ player=”12034″ title=”Rafa’s Pub Facts Dodgy De Gea & Arsenal’s MiniRevolution”]On Twitter, plenty of Everton fans raged at Salah and called for the Football Association to take retrospective action.Last season, the Toffees’ very own Oumar Niasse was the first player to be issued with a ban for diving after the fact.

Claudio Yacob would suit Rangers down to the ground

Rangers are will be slightly disappointed with their weekend result. Indeed, while they managed to extend their unbeaten record under Steven Gerrard away to Motherwell, the manner in which they threw away a lead will be gutting.

Still, the Gers have hit the ground running under Gerrard’s leadership and look capable of mounting a serious title challenge to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. The ex-Liverpool captain will be looking to build on their 2-0 win over St. Mirren with another victory against Motherwell. His side will be buoyed by their 1-0 win in the Europa League against FC Ufa which has put them on the cusp of the group stages.

Gerrard has significantly strengthened his squad this summer as he looks to deny the Hoops their ninth league title in a row. The former England captain finally landed Kyle Lafferty from Hearts after weeks of speculation and reports suggest he still wants to add to his ranks before the end of the month.

One man he should target is former West Brom midfielder – Claudio Yacob. Valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt, the Argentine is searching for a new club after being released by the Baggies following their relegation to the Championship. Yacob was restricted to just nine starts in the Premier League last season after years of being a mainstay in the engine room.

At 31-years-old, the former Argentina international still has something to offer and would give Gerrard a useful rotation option. With over 150 Premier League appearances under his belt, his experience could prove vital in the long-term with Rangers looking to compete in Europe as well as the domestic competitions. Yacob would provide excellent protection to the Gers’ defence, averaging 2.3 tackles and one interception per game last season (WhoScored).

Available for nothing – this is a move Gerrard would be foolish to turn down.

Rangers fans, thoughts?

Celtic must sell Dembele after Twitter outburst and replace him with Timothy Weah

Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has tweeted a cryptic message that appears to criticise manager Brendan Rodgers and the club’s hierarchy, and the Bhoys must look to sell him before Friday’s deadline and make an ambitious loan swoop for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Timothy Weah to replace him.

What’s the word, then?

Well, Dembele has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic Park in recent days and weeks, but Rodgers suggested on Thursday night that the Frenchman would be staying with the Scottish Premiership holders amid interest in him from clubs in his home country.

The 22-year-old has since taken to his social media account to tweet a message that appears to hit out at the club either for failed promises or not allowing him to leave before the deadline, which surely won’t go down well with Rodgers and even some of the team’s fans as well.

What should Celtic do next?

Even though they would obviously like to keep a player who has scored 51 goals in 94 appearances for them, perhaps they would be better off cashing in on him now given he is clearly unhappy.

Of course, the Bhoys should not do that unless they definitely have a replacement lined up, and they must make an ambitious bid to bring highly-rated PSG attacker Weah to Scotland.

The son of Liberia legend George, the talented 18-year-old was one of the Ligue 1 giants’ standout players during pre-season, and he has already scored two goals in three first-team appearances for them this term.

While that suggests he could have a key role to play, competing with teammates like Neymar and Edinson Cavani for a starting spot in the future means his game time is likely to be limited this term, and a loan move to a club like Celtic – where he would likely hit the ground running in the Premiership – would perhaps be beneficial for all parties in terms of his development.

Revealed: Majority of England fans polled want Shaw to start ahead of Rose vs Spain

[ad_pod ]

The majority of England fans that responded to our poll want to see Luke Shaw start ahead of the experienced Danny Rose at left wing-back in England’s UEFA Nations League opener against Spain on Saturday.

Shaw has been in fantastic form at the start of this season after getting his Manchester United career back on track following a horrific injury and heavy criticism from boss Jose Mourinho. The 23-year-old has started all four of the Red Devils’ games so far and scored in the season opener against Leicester.

Danny Rose on the other hand is locked in a battle with Ben Davies for the starting spot on the left-hand side of the Spurs defence and this has meant he has only started one of the Lilywhites’ four Premier League games so far this season.

The final results saw 61% of England fans wanting Gareth Southgate to bring in Shaw over Rose after the Manchester United man’s return to the national squad. Check out the full results below.

Tuchel reveals he wants to keep Tottenham target Rabiot

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has suggested he has no intention of losing Tottenham target Adrien Rabiot, in comments made to RMC.

What’s the word?

After failing to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, Mauricio Pochettino’s work towards bolstering his Tottenham Hotspur squad in 2019 has already begun and it seems he is keen to improve his midfield options.

Mousa Dembele’s long-term future is in doubt and Spurs have been widely linked with interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot, rated at £45m by Transfermarkt, as a result, with the 23-year-old entering the final 12 months of his contract and available on a free transfer next summer as things stand.

However, Spurs may face a fight in the market to land the France talent as PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has suggested to RMC that he has no intention of allowing the midfielder to leave after making the academy graduate a regular part of his side in the early stages of the season.

What was said?

“I love working with Rabiot. I really like Adrien, he had a difficult situation when he voluntarily missed the World Cup, but his effort with the team has been maximum, he has not missed any training.

“He can be adapted to any system and if he is physically well he is essential for our approach.

He has great potential and is a player trained in the club. It is very important to have footballers of this nature.”

Should Spurs move?

Rabiot’s versatility in midfield makes him an ideal long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele but securing his services will be a stern challenge, regardless of whether he becomes available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”291495″ player=”12034″ title=”Rafa’s Pub Facts Giroud Emulates Zidane & Rashford Emulates… Welbeck!”]

Widely-regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe, interest in Rabiot will be high if his contract with PSG expires and Tottenham would likely have to pay premium wages to bring him to North London – which could scupper the club’s strict wage policy.

Equally, Rabiot will be seeking increased wages if he moves on a free due to the reduced market costs for any club he joins and that is also a problem, as is the fact that PSG will command a meteoric price for his services if he pens a new deal.

With the financial implications a move could pose, Tottenham should look for alternatives in the market that would be better suited to their requirements.

Rossi would provide cover to West Brom’s lethal attack

West Brom manager Darren Moore looks settled with his striker combination already this season.

Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle look as though they will become a formidable duo spearheading The Baggies’ attack for the next eight months.

With Hal Robson-Kanu looking to be a deputy for those two men, Darren Moore will want another back-up if he is opting to play with two strikers.

That is where free-agent Giuseppe Rossi would be an amazing acquisition for The Baggies. The 30-cap Italy international is without a club after being released by Serie A outfit Genoa in the summer, and will be desperate to play at any standard.

A team that are chasing promotion back to the Premier League would be a great destination for the former Man United man, as every top player wants to be at a club that has ambition. The added bonus of returning to play in England’s top division would surely be enough to entice the player.

The Championship season is long and hard for a side that is chasing promotion, and squad depth is key. For a team that is adopting two strikers, Moore would surely want two players to cover his strikers. Additionally, if Rossi shows the quality that he has in the past, the versatility of Jay Rodriguez could mean that the Italian could partner Gayle up front with the Englishman playing deeper in the midfield.

This is a strange suggestion, but at this point in the season, it would be a wise move by The Baggies to strengthen the squad. With such a long time until the next transfer window, this small bit of business may give them enough to shoot up the table.

Newcastle fans bash transfer links to Camara

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Guinean midfielder Mohamed Camara, but fans don’t seem too convinced by the links.

According to reports, Newcastle sent scouts to watch 21-year-old Camara, who plays as a holding midfielder for Olympiakos.

The young midfielder joined the Greek giants on a free signing this summer French club Ajaccio, so it could be in their best interest to cash in if the right offer arrives.

The report claims the Magpies will battle Eintracht Frankfurt for his signature, as Rafael Benitez continues the hunt for a long-term partner for Jonjo Shelvey.

The Magpies have had a brutal start to the Premier League season, and they travel to Crystal Palace this weekend.

While fans are confident Rafa can turn their form around, they certainly aren’t confident that the infamous Mike Ashley can get a deal done for Camara, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…

Revealed: 67% of Celtic fans want Rodgers to sign free-agent Jerry Mbakogu

The majority of Celtic fans that answered our recent poll said that they would support a move for free-agent Jerry Mbakogu, who was a summer target for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.

The Bhoys are currently in fifth place in the Scottish Premiership after their 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday and Rangers’ loss to Livingston on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled for goals recently though and have only netted five goals in their last six matches in all competitions. The Northern Irishman has three strikers at his disposal, Leigh Griffiths, youngster Michael Johnston and summer signing Odsonne Edouard, but only Griffiths has been among the goals in recent weeks.

Mbakogu then could be a quick and cheap fix after the 25-year-old left Italian side Carpi in the summer.

The Nigerian has played most of his football in Italy and has a career record of 63 goals in 243 club appearances. While this may not be record-breaking, Mbakogu is yet to hit his prime and 67 per cent of Celtic fans that answered our poll said they would back any move. Check out the full results below.

Other than Salah, Firmino will win Liverpool more games than anyone else – agreed?

Last season, Mohamed Salah was a phenomenon. The Egyptian moved to Liverpool and was expected to make an impact, but nobody predicted just how good he would be. He bagged over 30 league goals, and he was undoubtedly their most important player.

That’s unlikely to change this season, even if he is slightly less deadly, but because he’s not scoring as often, Liverpool are going to need someone else to step up to the plate to help them secure a famous title win this term.

Salah will continue to be crucial, but perhaps someone like Roberto Firmino could help reduce the load somewhat.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Firmino emerge as one of Liverpool’s main men again this season, given that he did it last season. He was outshone by Salah – any player in England would have been – but he bagged 15 goals in the Premier League, and that’s a tally that put him amongst the best scorers in the English top flight.

He doesn’t just contribute goals, too. He’s exceptional with the ball at his feet, and that helps him make an impact across the pitch, rather than just in front of the goal. With brilliant technical ability and energy, the Brazilian is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League, and he’ll be expected to step it up again this season.

Firmino often finds himself in a variety of areas on the pitch, and thus he’s tasked with doing different jobs when that happens. He’ll track back and make a tackle, he’ll move wide and cross the ball, or he might even be the man heading a ball away from a corner. That’s the sort of player he is, and when he’s not impressing in front of goal, you can bet that he’ll make an impact defensively or in another way.

With Daniel Sturridge back in the fold, Firmino has some real competition for the first time in years, and that should help him as he looks to step up and, alongside Salah, make Liverpool title-winners again.
