In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Premier League forward Dean Windass has backed Tottenham Hotspur to secure an “unbelievable” return for ex-midfielder Luka Modric.

Earlier this week, reports emerged in Spain claiming that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho had spoken to the 35-year-old Real Madrid star over a potential reunion back in north London.

Modric was signed by the ‘Special One’ at the La Liga giants for £30m back in 2012 and has been there ever since, though his current contract at the Bernabeu is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Although, it is thought that the Croatian veteran is in talks over an extension, so Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may need to act quickly if he’s to tempt the “terrific player” back to the club.

And Windass believes it would be a smart move to make…

He told FFC:

“Say no more. That would be unbelievable, wouldn’t it?

“That would strengthen the side. Would he come back? I don’t know what relationship he had [with Jose]. I watched the Tottenham thing on Netflix when Modric was there.

“Listen, he’s a great player isn’t he, wow. Hopefully yeah, we all want to see the best players in the Premier League, and he’s certainly one of them.”

Modric has still proven to be a valuable player for Zinedine Zidane despite his advancing years, starting 11 of 13 matches in the Spanish top-flight this season.

Per WhoScored, the World Cup runner-up and 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has averaged 1.6 key passes, 1.6 dribbles, 1.2 tackles and 0.8 shots per game. He’s certainly still got it.

The 35-year-old played 160 times for Spurs before making the move to Madrid eight years ago. Gareth Bale’s come back, so why not Modric?

A diretoria do Corinthians anunciou, no fim da manhã desta terça-feira, que o executivo Maurício Jacob é o novo diretor de marketing do clube. Ele chega para assumir o lugar que era ocupado por Marcelo Passos, que pediu demissão há cerca de duas semanas. O JOGO

A chuva e o campo de grama sintética doPasso D’Areia prejudicaram muito as duas equipes. Os primeiros 45 minutos foram de poucas chances de gol, muita correria e jogadas de bola parada. O Inter apostava na ligação rápida do seu meio de criação com a velocidade de Vitinho e Eduardo Sasha.

O São José teve um pouco menos de ímpeto ofensivo, mas também chegou a incomodar o gol de Alisson. Mesmo assim, em uma avaliação geral, os dois goleiros pouco precisaram aparecer durante a primeira etapa. A emoção parecia que ficaria guardada para os 45 minutos finais.

Para a etapa final Argel apostou na entrada de Bruno Baio na vaga de Sasha. Se não ficou mais efetivo, o Inter ao menos intensificou sua presença no campo ofensivo. Mesmo não incomodando o goleiro Fábio, o Colorado aumentou a posse de bola perto da área de São José.

O apagado D’Alessandro, que foi mais visto até aquele momento sofrendo faltas ou reclamado da não marcação delas, fez uma grande jogada e só não marcou um golaço porque o travessão assim não quis. O argentino, emotivo pela despedida, pediu o apoio da torcida que começou a fazer muito barulho.

O jogo ficou nervoso. Muita reclamação de ambos os lados e o árbitroMárcio Coruja precisou mostrar alguns cartões amarelos. O gol do Inter amadurecia, como na bola na trave em chute do zagueiro Paulão ou no chute de Anderson, que obrigou Fábio a fazer grande defesa.

Quando o relógio marcou 35 minutos veio a despedida (ou seria um até logo de um ano) quando D’Alessandro foi substituido. O argentino foi ovacionado e recebeu o cumprimento de todos os jogadores e do técnico Argel. No fim nada de gols e estreia do Inter com empate no Gauchão. Já na Recopa Gaúcha, o Colorado ficou com o título ao vencer por 3 a 2 com duas defesas de Alisson.

Jarrod Bowen betrayed David Moyes with a horror show performance in West Ham United’s 1-0 win at Everton on Friday night.

Moyes awarded the Leominster-born forward his 30th successive Premier League appearance at Goodison Park after recalling Bowen to the starting line-up, having only turned to the attacker as a late substitute in Tuesday’s draw with Southampton.

But the decision to start Bowen looked more and more questionable as the game progressed, with the £96,000-per-week winger failing to match his exuberant energy with any real quality when on the ball.

Bowen, who Hull City boss Grant McCann lauded for being “really humble” during his time at the KCOM Stadium, brought lots of energy to the Hammers’ right-wing to display glimpses of his threat but often let himself and the Irons down through his poor decision making.

The 24-year-old frequently opted to look for a shot when a pass was on or passed when a chance to test Jordan Pickford presented itself, and must improve his prioritisation to see a return of the player who scored three times in the opening four games of the Premier League season.

Bowen is now without a top-flight strike to his name since penning his fourth of the campaign on matchday 10, while only recording two assists in 17 games thanks to five-straight uninfluential outings in recent weeks.

Moyes would have expected to see far more from Bowen than what the £25m-rated forward brought to Merseyside, where he was lucky to stay on the pitch until the 73rd-minute when replaced by Andriy Yarmolenko.

Bowen won just three of his nine duels at Goodison Park with the West Ham winger losing five of eight ground battles and his sole aerial contest of the game, per SofaScore.

He further turned over possession 16 times thanks to a woeful 62% pass accuracy rating, having misplaced eight of his 21 passes, three of five attempted crosses and only finding a teammate with one of two attempted long balls.

The 5 ft 8 attacker was able to at least create a big chance for the Irons to score against Everton but not through his shooting, with Bowen’s sole recorded effort blocked on a night Said Benrahma struggled to find a groove before Michail Antonio replaced Sebastien Haller.

More space opened up for Benrahma to display his talents once playing behind Antonio, while leaving Moyes with food for thought through his relentless pressing whenever Everton were in possession.

يواجه نادي مونتيري بطل قارة كونكاكاف أزمة مع منتخب المكسيك قبل انطلاقة بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2021 في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ومواجهة الأهلي في الدور الثاني من البطولة.

وضعت القرعة التي أجريت يوم 29 نوفمبر الماضي الأهلي ومونتيري وجهًا لوجه في الدور الثاني من مونديال الأندية وستقام المباراة يوم 5 فبراير 2022 في تمام الساعة السادسة والنصف مساءً بتوقيت القاهرة.

وتنطلق البطولة يوم 3 فبراير 2022 كما أعلن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم وستنتهي في 12 فبراير، ويجب على مونتيري السفر إلى الإمارات للتعود على الأجواء والطقس قبل انطلاق البطولة.

ولكن هناك مشكلة مشابهة لما يعاني الأهلي منه مع مشاركة منتخب مصر في كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021 والتي ستقام في الكاميرون واللاعبين الذين سيضمهم الفراعنة والمدرب، كارلوس كيروش، وربما يُحرم منهم بطل دوري أبطال إفريقيا في كأس العالم للأندية نظرًا لتضارب المواعيد في حالة وصول المنتخب إلى نصف النهائي.

يعاني مونتيري من أزمة مشابهة حيث هناك تجمع دولي ما بين يناير وفبراير لأول مرة نظرًا لضغط المباريات في تصفيات كأس العالم 2022 في قارة كونكاكاف، وسيواجه منتخب المكسيك كلاً من جاميكا 27 يناير، كوستاريكا 30 يناير وبنما في 2 فبراير، بحسب صحيفة “Once” المكسيكية.

ويستدعي منتخب المكسيك في الفترة الماضية عددًا كبيرًا من لاعبي مونتيري يصل إلى 6 بينهم 3 لاعبين كانوا في المعسكر الماضي خلال شهر نوفمبر وهم خيسوس جاياردو، كارلوس رودريجيز وروجيليو فونيس موري.

بينما هناك 3 لاعبين آخرين كان يتم استدعاؤهم على مدار الأشهر الماضية مثل هيكتور مورينو، سيزار مونتيس وإريك أجيري.

وبالتالي، إذا تم استدعاؤهم دوليًا مع المكسيك سيكون سفرهم مع مونتيري إلى الإمارات قبل انطلاق البطولة معقدًا للغاية وربما يطالبون بعدم وجودهم مع منتخب المكسيك رغم أهمية المباريات المقبلة في تصفيات مونديال قطر 2022.

ولم تحسم المكسيك تذكرتها للتأهل إلى كأس العالم المقبل حيث تحتل المركز الثالث في ترتيب مجموعة تصفيات أمريكا الشمالية برصيد 14 نقطة بفارق الأهداف فقط عن بنما في المركز الرابع والذي سيشارك في ملحق للتصفيات.

For Olivier Ntcham, his Celtic stay is very quickly running out of gas.

The former Manchester City man was signed under Brendan Rodgers and initially, that looked like good business. He has scored 24 times for the Hoops throughout the years and once established himself as one of the most promising box to box midfielders in Scotland.

However, in double-quick time, it has all unravelled for the Frenchman. No longer does he display the lung-busting energy we associate with Ntcham and his lack of regular minutes this season suggest that he could soon be out the exit door.

The 24-year-old hasn’t started since the end of November and has been touted with a switch to West Brom.

That could be a welcome relief for Neil Lennon, someone who may be troubled by the player’s poor attitude this season.

Speaking earlier in the campaign about Ntcham, talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil stated: “Ntcham, he looks as if he’s tools down and not bothered.”

Funnily enough, a player who could all but end his stay in Glasgow is in a similar situation in England.

The man in question is Preston’s Ben Pearson, another player being left out of the team because of a contract dispute. Celtic are eyeing a move for him and if they get a deal over the line, it would surely push Ntcham further down the pecking order and likely out of the Parkhead door.

After all, Pearson is a midfielder himself, and a powerful one at that.

Discussing his future over the weekend, Preston boss Alex Neil commented: “Listen, Ben would’ve been fit to be in the squad today, but we’ve signed some new lads that need to get minutes now. Ben has made it clear to us that his future doesn’t lie here come the end of the season.”

It was a damning indictment of the 26-year-old who perhaps like Ntcham, has displeased his manager.

Pearson is one of the most aggressive players around and in picking up 52 yellow cards in the last four and a half years, he is no stranger to throwing in a tackle.

By replacing their French titan with the Preston brute, they’d lose a degree of attacking urgency but importantly, they wouldn’t lose his battling and tough-tackling characteristics.

It seems like for all parties it would be best if Pearson and Ntcham left their respective clubs. Celtic, however, are likely to benefit most.

The former’s current £8.5k-per-week deal expires in the summer and consequently, Nick Hammond can agree a pre-contract with Pearson if he deems Celtic’s offer to be appropriate.

This signing would certainly be shrewd business from the Hoops hierarchy.
