West Ham United are said to be one of the teams keen on signing Yves Bissouma ahead of the summer transfer window…

What’s the word?

That’s according to the Daily Star, who have claimed that the Irons have made inquiries to Brighton and Hove Albion over the potential of signing their star midfielder.

However, it is thought that Premier League rivals Arsenal are leading the race to secure his signature, whilst Everon and Spurs are also mooted with interest.

The 24-year-old has two years still to run on his Seagulls contract and is thought to be valued at around £30m.

Dream Rice replacement

A new central midfielder likely won’t be top of David Moyes’ priorities given that he so desperately needs attacking options, in particular an alternative to the injury-prone Michail Antonio, but things could quickly change.

The Hammers are on the verge of achieving something extraordinary in qualifying for the Champions League but even despite that, Declan Rice’s future continues to be shrouded in mystery.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are eyeing him up as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba at Old Trafford, whilst Moyes did reveal that he would consider any huge bids that come forward for his talismanic midfielder.

Bissouma would be an ideal successor, should West Ham lose out on the 22-year-old, who has been hailed as the “future captain” of the club. Rice would evidently leave some pretty big boots to fill but the Mali international has been a rare bright spark in Brighton’s poor campaign.

In terms of reading the game and possessing the ability to thwart the opposition, the former Lille man stacks up well to Moyes’ current options, averaging more tackles per game (2.8) than Rice (1.9) and Tomas Soucek (1.9).

Whilst in terms of interceptions, Bissouma (1.7 per game) is ahead of the Czech midfielder (1.6) and only just behind Rice (two). He also offers a little more going forward than the England international too.

As per WhoScored, the Seagulls powerhouse likes to drift forward with the ball, averaging 1.5 dribbles (vs Rice’s 0.9) and also likes to have a pop at goal, just like Soucek (1.6), having averaged 1.2 attempts per game this term.

Bissouma’s ex-teammate at the Amex Stadium, Dale Stephens, waxed lyrical about his ability to local reporters in 2019. He said: “He’s got the ability of perhaps a winger playing in central midfield with the way he can go past players. His feet are incredible and I’m sure he’s going to get better and better. He’s got everything you need to be a top player.”

Whilst his former manager Chris Hughton, now in charge of Nottingham Forest, dubbed him a “wonderful talent” to The Argus (via Goal). Gary Lineker lauded him as an “exceptional footballer” and Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher believes teams will be queueing up to bid for him this summer.

The praise is endless.

With a similar playing style to Yaya Toure, there are certainly comparisons to be had with Rice and if Moyes were to lose such a big talent, then GSB should look no further than Bissouma as the man to replace him.

If they do choose to sell Rice this summer, GSB must look to beat Arsenal to Bissouma’s signature and provide Moyes with a suitable successor.

Alan Hutton believes Alfredo Morelos could leave Glasgow Rangers this summer after Steven Gerrard’s transfer admission.

The Lowdown: Morelos’ future uncertain

Morelos’ future at Ibrox is uncertain. Some reports have suggested he will stay at the club (via The 4th Official), but the Colombia international told Radio Caracol earlier this season that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Gerrard recently admitted the Gers could lose star players this summer, which has thrown further doubt on to the future of the 24-year-old.

The Latest: Hutton shares transfer fear

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton has shared his fear of Morelos departing. He said:

“It’s always a difficult one when we talk about Morelos.

“It seems like yes, he loves playing for Rangers. Of course he’ll want to play in the Champions League, every player does.

“But, has his head been a little bit turned from moves, bigger moves, in his opinion, to other clubs? Whether it be England or Italy or France, that’s something that only he’s going to be able to answer.

“I mean, me as it sits as a footballer, Champions League was massive. When that music comes on at the start of the games, you get the goosebumps, that’s what it’s all about.

“I hope that is enough for the likes of Morelos to stay. However, if an offer comes in that’s big enough and Rangers are willing that accept that, it’s simple. He’ll move on.

“The big thing out of that is I think Rangers are going to be given the money to then reinvest. That’s obviously good for the club moving forward.”

The Verdict: Always on the edge

There is no doubt Morelos has been a fantastic signing for the 55-time Scottish champions. In 180 games in all competitions since making the move in 2017, he has 94 goals, including 17 this campaign (Transfermarkt). Although his temperament has sometimes got the better of him – he has picked up seven red cards – he has been a constant menace for opposing defences.

Gerrard’s comments indicate it will be a difficult summer for the Gers, and Morelos will always be one of the first to be linked with a departure. The anticipation of a Champions League run may just be enough to hold on the former HJK Helsinki man until the start of the new term, but failure to reach the group stages may push him out of the door.

In other news, Hutton believes this man could replace Filip Helander.

Two weekends ago, Everton didn’t have very much joy against opposition in claret and blue.

The Toffees were made to bemoan a horrendous defensive mistake from Mason Holgate as they eventually lost 2-1 to Aston Villa.

However, fast forward to a week later and it was a piece of magic from one of Everton’s defenders that set them on their way to victory against a team wearing the same colours; West Ham.

The Irons have been mightily efficient this term but they struggled to find a way past Carlo Ancelotti’s men after an early first-half strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin meant they won 1-0.

The England international racked up his 21st strike of the campaign but he was set free by Ben Godfrey, the real stand out man on Sunday afternoon.

Godfrey has had an excellent first campaign at Goodison Park but this was undoubtedly one his best performances in blue.

He led from the front defensively but showed what a classy ball player he is by assisting Calvert-Lewin’s goal.

The former Norwich man was allowed to step out of defence before sliding in a lovely ball down the right-hand channel. It was on a plate for Everton’s leading goal scorer who took possession into the box before finding the net.

However, there was more to Godfrey’s game than his exciting ball-playing abilities. In fact, that wasn’t even the most outstanding part of his day.

The £68k-per-week earner only completed 74% of his passes but he enjoyed a dominating display among Everton’s backline.

Ancelotti mixed things up on this occasion and after the debacle against Villa, he dropped Holgate and played a back three.

Godfrey seemed to relish his role as the right centre-back, stepping forward and winning nearly every single physical battle he competed in.

He won eight of his nine defensive duels (88%), prevailing in a whopping five tackles during the contest.

In completing four clearances, he enjoyed a dominating and imperious display at the back. Everton had to be stern defensively on Sunday and they were definitely that.

The Toffees restricted West Ham to 11 shots, none of which were on target. Considering the Irons are bidding to reach the Champions League, it was a complete defensive display to deny them.

Godfrey rarely let Said Benrahama and Jesse Lingard get the better of him with the duo succeeding with just one key pass and two dribbles between them.

The Everton defender has proven to be a valuable member of the team with his versatility but he looks at complete ease at centre-back.

Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele has been waiting patiently in the wings for two years now.

It has been an arduous time for the Hoops prodigy, a player who broke onto the scene as a 16-year-old in 2019 but still only has seven first team appearances to his name.

The Bhoys have done well not to overexpose him but there is a fine line to be had. The truth is that Neil Lennon and now John Kennedy haven’t utilised him as much as they should.

Dembele has played so little that there are growing concerns over his future in Paradise. For a long while it was thought that the 18-year-old’s contract would expire at the end of the season, but Kennedy provided welcome news in the week that the teenager still has one year left on his deal.

However, if he doesn’t want to stick around, this will be their final opportunity to receive a fee for his services. If he still hasn’t signed by January, then Dembele will be free to speak to foreign clubs.

To lose a player of his calibre on a free transfer would be simply disastrous, especially now he looks set to make a proper breakthrough in Glasgow.

Dembele came off the bench in the 4-0 win over St Johnstone a few days ago to score his first senior goal. It has been a long time coming but it was taken like a player who’s been at the top for years.

David Turnbull played an inch-perfect ball into the teenager’s path before he burst away from the defence and calmly found the back of the net.

He had a sensational impact and, if he doesn’t start on Saturday against Hibernian, it will feel like a crime against football, a devilish act deliberately made to trigger Celtic supporters.

The Hoops have nothing to play for on the final day of the campaign so this feels like the perfect time to finally unleash the winger. There is no pressure and no great expectation.

Speaking about Dembele in the week, Kennedy said: “Karamoko has been spoken about as the next superstar, but people develop physically at different rates. He is probably one who still has a bit of development, but is a terrific talent – we know that.”

Kennedy knows a flourishing young player when he sees one. He was crucial in the development of Kieran Tierney when he was coming through the ranks at Parkhead.

The left-back made a seamless transition to first team football, one that Dembele will now hope to follow. He has already made an impact at senior level and, if his goal on Wednesday tells you anything, it’s that he’s ready to start from the off.

Forget about Mohamed Elyounoussi, Celtic need to focus on players who will actually be at the club next season.

وأضاف: “شخصيًا، سأستبعد رونالدو خارج المباراة، أمام واتفورد، سيطروا على المباراة وكانوا يمتلكون ما يعادل 80% من الاستحواذ، لكن الأمر لن يكون كذلك أمام مانشستر سيتي”.

وواصل: “كم مرة سيكونون في نصف ملعب مانشستر سيتي ويسيطرون على الكرة؟ إذا كنت في مكان جون ستونز أو إيمريك لابورت، فهما يفضلان اللعب ضد رونالدو ومراقبته مقارنة بلاعب مثل راشفورد، فهم لا يريدون مواجهة أي سرعات”.

واستمر: “مانشستر سيتي يجدون الأمر أكثر صعوبة عندما يتراجع المنافس ضدهم دفاعيًا، 10 لاعبين خلف الكرة وهذا ما حدث في مباراتي توتنهام وإيفرتون”.

وأكمل: “يجب أن يكونوا حذرين لأنه إذا نجح مانشستر يونايتد في تحقيق الفوز، سيكونون مع ليفربول هما الفريقان اللذان يمكنني القول بثقة أنهما يمكنهما الذهاب إلى ملعب الاتحاد والفوز”.

وأتم: “لدى مانشستر يونايتد الإمكانية القوية التي تمكنهم من الفوز، لقد رأينا ذلك من قبل الطريق التي يلعبون بها، لكن على رانجنيك أن يتعامل معها بشكل صحيح وإلا ستكون هناك 4 أو 5 أهداف في الاتجاه الآخر”.
