Cricinfo staff18-Jul-2008The dates for the Canada Cup Four Nation Twenty20 tournament in Toronto have been announced, with the competition going ahead after a company, Sports International Marketing, stepped in when the original organisers backed out.The tournament, which was organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to fill up its calendar after the postponement of their home series against Australia, had initially faced problems with the backing out of the primary sponsors, but the board has managed to bring in a Pakistan-based business house to finance the event.The news came from the Bangladesh board, however, as a Cricket Canada spokesperson told Cricinfo that they had not yet received a signed copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from the sponsors. “We have finalised an MOU with the event sponsors, and the CC is in a position to be able to sign that document,” said the spokesperson. “As of midday July 18 (Toronto time) the CC has not yet received a signed copy of the MOU from the event sponsors. We do understand, however, that the sponsors are in active discussions with the three other participating countries.”The competition will take place over four days from 14 August. Each team will play each other once, meaning three matches, ahead of a final and a third-place play-off, both matches on 17 August. Bangladesh and West Indies will kick off the tournament by facing each other on the morning of 14 August, while the hosts Canada will face Pakistan that afternoon.Packed stadiums are expected for the event, with approximately 12,000 spectators expected for each game.Canada will have already played several Twenty20 matches that month, as they will have travelled to Belfast for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. The tournament, involving the six leading Associate teams – Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, the Netherlands and Scotland – takes place from August 2 to 5.

Celtic have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Royal Antwerp right-back Aurelio Buta, according to The Daily Record.

The Lowdown: Buta links

Celtic are on the hunt for a new right-back this summer and have been linked with a move for Buta for a number of weeks.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano was the man who initially shared the Hoops’ interest in the 24-year-old more than three weeks ago.

Reports since have claimed a £3m deal has been agreed between the two clubs, with personal terms believed to be the main issue.

The Latest: Antwerp inclusion

The Daily Record shared an update on Buta to Celtic on their live transfer blog on Saturday (16:16).

They shared the news that the Portuguese defender has been included in Antwerp’s official squad list, titling the news as another blow for the Hoops.

Claims of a deal being agreed between the two clubs were mentioned once again, with personal terms still yet to be agreed.

The Verdict: Time is ticking

Celtic don’t want to be left in a position where a deal for Buta falls through and leaves them with no time to add to their right-back ranks.

Anthony Ralston has been an ever-present figure in Ange Postecoglou’s side recently, so if the Royal Antwerp defender doesn’t want to accept the Hoops’ best offer, then they should move on.

Other right-backs such as Josip Juranovic, George Baldock and Fabricio Bustos have also been linked with a move to Celtic Park, so the Hoops may need to set a deadline for Buta before looking elsewhere.

وأكد أبو ريدة خلال المركز الإعلامي الخاص به على وقوفه التام وراء حقوق الأندية المصرية والمنتخبات الوطنية على المستويين الدولي والإفريقي، وذلك على مدار رحلته مع المواقع الرياضية الدولية منذ عام 2004 وحتى الآن”.
 
وأوضح أنه من هذا المنطلق فإنه ارتأى توضيح بعض النقاط المهمة التي سببت بعض الإشكاليات لعدد من المواقف خلال الفترة الأخيرة رغم عزوفه عن التعامل الإعلامي طوال المرحلة الماضية.
 
وأكمل: “أولاً، لم يكن لي أي دور معلن أو غير معلن في اختيار مجلس إدارة الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم الحالي رغم تقديري الشخصي لجميع أعضائه، كما أنني لم أشارك مع الاتحاد الحالي في أي اجتماع رغم أحقيتي القانونية واللائحية في عضويتي بموجب موقعي الدولي”.
 
وتابع: “ثانيا، التقدم لتنظيم أي حدث رياضي على أي مستوى هو مسئولية الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، وهو ما لم يتم خلال المدة التي حددها الاتحاد الإفريقي فيما يخص تنظيم المباراة النهائية لدوري الأبطال الإفريقي لهذا الموسم ولا بعد هذه المدة، مما جعل الكاف يحصر اختياراته على الملفات التي تقدمت بها الاتحادات الأهلية في هذا الشأن”.
 
وأردف: “ثالثًا، على مدار 18 عاما تشرفت بدوري في تنظيم مصر بكفاءة عالية للعديد من الأحداث الإفريقية والعالمية أهمها كأس الأمم الإفريقية 2006 وكأس العالم للشباب 2009 وكأس الأمم الإفريقية 2019 وكأس افريقيا تحت 23 سنة 2019 والعديد من بطولات الناشئين والشباب والفئات الأخرى وذلك بالتنسيق التام مع الاتحادات المصرية المتعاقبة وتحت مظلة مؤسسات الدولة وفي مقدمتها وزارة الشباب والرياضة والأجهزة المعنية كافة، حيث لم يتأخر أي منها عن تقديم كل المساندة بشتى أنواعها حتى صارت مصر الآن فعلًا لا قولا مركزًا عالميًا للأحداث الرياضية وفق رؤية واضحة للدولة المصرية في هذا الشأن”.
 
وواصل: “رابعًا، لم أتأخر يومًا عن دعم أي فريق مصري في أي بطولة خارجية له وذلك وفق ما تقتضيه اللوائح والنظم المعمول بها، وبناء عليه لم يكن لأي فريق مصري أي حق مشروع في أي بطولة شارك فيها، إلا وقد وحصل عليه بفضل الله، وذلك من دون المجاهرة أو التفاخر إيمانًا مني بأن هذا هو الدور الواجب القيام به، وبقدر ما شهدنا من انكسارات خلال منافسات الفرق المصرية، عشنا أيضًا العديد من انتصاراتها على كافة المستويات سواء مع الفرق الوطنية أو الأندية المصرية”.
 
واختتم: “امنياتي الطيبة لكل الفرق المصرية والاتحاد المصري والأندية المصرية في التعاون الإيجابي من أجل اظهار الكرة المصرية أمام العالم بما تستحقه من مكانة تجعلها محط أنظار العالم كله”.

Wolves suffered yet another defeat in pre-season on Saturday afternoon as Bruno Lage’s troublesome start to life at Molineux continued.

The Old Gold now have just a week to prepare for their opening Premier League clash and you sense they need a few more recruits.

On the chalkboard

One area Wolves have been looking at improving is their midfield.

Ruben Neves has been linked with the exit door on a regular basis while Joao Moutinho is growing older.

Tim Spiers revealed last season that he thought it would be Moutinho’s final campaign as a regular starter and thus, they need younger players to come through.

The good thing is that Wolves are no longer actively looking to sell Neves. A move to Arsenal never materialised so it looks as though he’ll stay in the Midlands.

That being said, Neves will be expendable heading into further windows so it would be wise of Bruno Lage and co to consider alternatives.

The solution

Towards the end of last week it became apparent that Wolves were interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu.

Wolves tasted defeat to the same opposition this weekend but Yokuslu wasn’t actually in action.

That said, the Turk was in inspirational form for West Brom last season while embarking on a loan spell at the Hawthorns.

Yokuslu wasn’t able to prevent Albion from beating the drop but he attracted plenty of admirers along the way.

He’s a tough-tackling player capable of bursting forwards much in the same way as Neves has done for Wolves.

Capped 37 times by his country, the midfielder has been described as “tenacious” by defender Kyle Bartley.

His ability to get stuck in is what sets him apart from many other players in the same position. Last term, Yokuslu won 2.4 tackles per game and made an incredibly impressive 2.2 interceptions per game.

On top of that, he produced 0.8 shots per match and successfully completed 1.2 dribbles over the same metric.

Compare that to Neves and there are clear similarities. The 24-year-old made the same number of tackles – 2.4 – and registered 1.8 interceptions per outing.

The one area where Yokuslu reigns supreme is dribbling, an area that hasn’t been a strong point in the Wolves midfield for a while now.

On that evidence, he’d be a great signing for Lage and Fosun.

Militão chegou a ser observado no profissional ainda em 2016, sob o comando de Edgardo Bauiza. O técnico argentino levou o defensor, então na transição do sub-17 para o sub-20, para completar os treinos diante das reduzidas opções para a zaga. Foram quase quatro meses no CT até voltar a Cotia.

WV Raman, the former Indian batsman, has been retained as coach of Tamil Nadu for the next two seasons. Top officials in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) have expressed satisfaction with Raman’s work over the 2007-08 season, after he took over an inexperienced team hit hard by an exodus to Indian Cricket League.Raman had been offered the coach’s position at Bengal as well, but he had informed the TNCA that Tamil Nadu would be his first priority.Tamil Nadu finished sixth in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group A with one win, four draws and two defeats. The TNCA has also, for the first time, expanded the coaching staff by appointing the former allrounder D Gokulakrishnan as the assistant coach and TS Mohan as the fielding coach. The move was primarily to ease the burden on Raman.”Raman is dedicated to cricket,” N Srinivasan, the TNCA president, told the . “And he is dedicated to Tamil Nadu. We have decided to continue with him.”The association added that Raman will no longer be a part of the selection panel he chaired for the last two years. The allrounder Shane Watson would be 39 if Twenty20 completed an astonishing rise to Olympic status by 2020, but he is still excited by the outside prospect of taking part. “As a cricketer it would be great to think you could achieve an Olympic gold medal in your career,” he said. “Everybody who plays elite sport dreams of Olympic gold.”Watson’s credentials in cricket’s shortest format are outstanding – he was the player of the tournament in the inaugural Indian Premier League and is a brutal hitter and economical bowler. He has stepped into line with a large group of current and former stars who support Adam Gilchrist’s Games proposal, including Steve Waugh, Stephen Fleming and Sourav Ganguly.”This brand of cricket is a perfect fit for the Olympic schedule,” Watson said. Depois da vexatória eliminação na Copa Sul-Americana para o modesto Defensa y Justicia (ARG), a diretoria do São Paulo demonstrou apoio ao trabalho do técnico Rogério Ceni. Logo após a partida desta quinta-feira, o diretor executivo de futebol Vinicius Pinotti disse que a confiança em Ceni é total e ele chegou a chamá-lo de inquestionável.

– É óbvio que o resultado não é o que se esperava, decepcionante, mas o apoio é total ao trabalho. A gente acredita em continuidade, o trabalho dele é muito sério, é bem feito, os jogadores estão muito fechados com ele. Não temos dúvidas de que vamos dar a volta por cima no Brasileiro. O resultado é ruim, e o que prometemos à torcida é muita dedicação – afirmou Vinicius, que depois foi perguntado se Ceni era inquestionável.

– Ele não veio para ficar quatro meses. É inquestionável. Está trabalhando só há quatro meses (cinco meses), a gente acredita na continuidade. No trabalho, no dia a dia. Claro que não foi como a gente esperava. Mas o dia a dia é muito bom, os jogadores estão muito fechados com ele, então não vai mudar nada.

Na sequência, Pinotti, que assumiu o cargo na semana passada, disse se havia crítica e cobrança a se fazer agora. Ele acabou elogiando o Defensa y Justicia.

– Mesmo nas vitórias a gente faz uma análise, uma crítica. Não houve nenhuma cobrança. Não é querer tirar a responsabilidade, mas a gente não enfrentou qualquer time. Não tem história, mas jogou bem. Nosso time é em formação, ainda não dá para tirar conclusão do trabalho – disse Pinotti.

Rogério Ceni assinou dois anos de contrato no início deste ano, após passar um ano estudando para ser treinador. Houve vaias da torcida após o empate por 1 a 1 com o Defensa, que culminou na eliminação do time da Sul-Americana.

أعرب أوريلين تشواميني لاعب وسط فريق ريال مدريد الجديد، المنضم حديثًا من موناكو، عن سعادته بارتداء قميص النادي الملكي.

تشواميني انضم إلى ريال مدريد من موناكو بعد صراع النادي الملكي مع باريس سان جيرمان، لكن رغبة الفرنسي حسمت كل شيء وانضم إلى بطل الدوري الإسباني.

وقال تشواميني في تصريحات خلال تقديمه كلاعب جديد لـ ريال مدريد: “أنا سعيد لأنني في أفضل نادٍ في العالم”.

Na virada do ano o Ceifador teve sua saída especulada, mas com a chegada de Abel Braga o camisa 9 desandou a fazer gols e voltou a jogar bem. Até aí existem semelhanças com o Fred.

Atuação apagada de Fred no primeiro reencontro com o Flu
