Dirigentes do clube mineiro estão com uma reunião marcada para esta sexta-feira com os empresários do jogador, com o objetivo de tentarem acertar detalhes para uma possível negócio.

Na última quinta-feira, o vice-presidente do Cruzeiro, Bruno Vicintin, foi questionado sobre o assunto após a partida contra a Chapecoense, pela Copa do Brasil. Apesar de se esquivar, o diretor não escondeu que Luciano faz parte dos planos do Cruzeiro.

– Todo jogador bom interessa. Estamos monitorando o mercado e vendo as opções – comentou Vicintin, em entrevista à Rádio Itatiaia.

Sobre Sassá

Adotando uma postura semelhante, Vicintin pediu calma ao tratar de assuntos que ainda não estão concluídos, como a negociação com o Botafogo para ter Sassá. No momento, o time carioca aguarda a realização dos exames médicos com o meia Marcos Vinícius, que será envolvido na troca. Só então, Sassá irá para Belo Horizonte passar pelo mesmo processo e assinar com o Cruzeiro.

– Tem hora que o Sassá está perto, tem hora que está longe. Por isso pedimos um pouco de calma, pois não queremos iludir nosso torcedor. Temos um elenco fortíssimo, precisamos de um ou outro ajuste para brigar nas cabeças.

Crystal Palace target Jeremie Boga has refused to make the move to Selhurst Park, according to journalist Sebastien Denis.

And, as to be expected, a number of Palace supporters have been reacting to the news on social media.

Recent reports suggested that Palace could attempt to sign Boga after initiating contact with Sassuolo.

However, according to Denis, the left-winger has refused to make the move to London and will remain with the Serie A side.

Patrick Vieira looks set to make at least one deadline day addition, though, with Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard completing a medical ahead of a £14m move.

They don’t seem to have had that kind of progression with Boga, however, so Edouard could well be the club’s sixth and final addition of the summer window.

Allrounder Angelo Mathews is the new face in Sri Lanka’s 15-member squad named for the tour of Zimbabwe in November. Mathews’ call-up comes on the back of impressive performances for the Sri Lanka A side on their tour of South Africa in August-September this year. Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas will miss the tour, while middle-order batsmen Tillakaratne Dilshan, vice-captain for the T20 Canada, and Chamara Silva have been dropped.A former Sri Lanka Under-19 captain, Mathews scored 123 runs at 34.60 and picked up three wickets in the three-Test series against South Africa A, which Sri Lanka lost 0-1. He then went on to top the batting averages in the ODI series but played just the first two matches, picking up an injury. Following the tour, Sri Lanka A team coach Chandrika Hathurusingha said Mathews was “among the possibilities to represent the senior side”.Opener Upul Tharanga and fast bowler Dammika Prasad have also been picked for the tour. The two, along with Mathews, are currently playing with the A team in India. Tharanga benefited from the outstanding showing on the tour of South Africa with the Sri Lanka A side, scoring 250 runs in four one-day games at 83.33. He is expected to take Sanath Jayasuriya’s place at the top and will partner Mahela Udawatte. O Vasco já está em Chapecó, em Santa Catarina, para a partida desta quarta-feira contra a Chapecoense pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. Os comandados de Milton Mendes deixaram o Rio de Janeiro na manhã desta terça-feira e devem fazer a última atividade no fim da tarde na região catarinense. O lateral-esquerdo Henrique pediu inteligência para conquistar a primeira vitória fora de casa.

– Temos que jogar com inteligência e saber aproveitar os erros que os nossos adversários cometerem na partida. A Chapecoense possui uma grande equipe e já provou isso nessa temporada. A purposeful, fluent and unbeaten 92 from Simon Katich kept Australia ticking at the end of a day that saw effortless batting on either side of a dramatic bowling spell. India batted smoothly through the morning, and Katich’s 115-run partnership with Michael Hussey gave Australia plenty of breathing room in the late afternoon, but the collapse of five Indian wickets for 19 runs in between was scripted by the day’s unlikeliest hero, Jason Krejza.Krejza, the offspinner, had a bittersweet first Test outing with 8 for 215 – the eighth-best figures but also the most runs conceded in an innings on debut – to help Australia dismiss India for 441. Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni had batted wonderfully together in the morning, adding 119 for the sixth wicket, but fell in Krejza’s second over after lunch, setting off the drama. Krejza came into this match with a few eyebrows raised over his capabilities but, in this one innings, leapfrogged Brett Lee to become Australia’s second-highest wicket-taker this series.India had cruised through the first session and the innings of the morning belonged to Ganguly, all off-side grace and on-side elegance in his last Test. He played himself in, defending well and only collected his first four when Mitchell Johnson gave him plenty of room outside off. His shots didn’t lack timing, evident by a beautiful drive off the front foot and a flick off the pads, both against pace, but the bulk of his scoring came through good running. The fluid drives and whips off the pads came after he crossed his 35th fifty with a couple driven past extra cover, and there was even a vintage six, his 57th in Tests.Dhoni’s was a controlled innings, with several neat punches on the off side and some wristy steers to leg, but the highlight was how he pushed Ganguly to hustle. Always shuffling on the crease, Dhoni worked singles into the spaces easily and constantly applied pressure on tired Australian feet. There were six triples and 13 doubles in the Ganguly-Dhoni partnership, most urged by Dhoni and reciprocated rather well by Ganguly.In the first over after lunch, consecutive boundaries off Johnson, one driven with control, one slashed wide of slip, brought Dhoni his fifty from 88 balls. Both batsmen were well set, and what followed was out of the blue.Krejza conceded his 200th run when Ganguly tucked a single off his pads, but picked up his fourth wicket two deliveries later when Dhoni got too far across his stumps and missed a paddle. If Krejza’s reaction was energetic, the roar that emanated across the caverns of a near-empty VCA Stadium to the ball after that was palpable. Ganguly pushed at one turning away and edged to a tumbling Michael Clarke at slip, thus becoming Krejza’s fifth wicket.Zaheer Khan was the sixth, dragging a boom drive back onto his stumps, and Krejza found himself on a hat-trick when he snuck one past Amit Mishra’s defence. When Simon Katich snapped up a smart catch at forward short leg to get Ishant Sharma, Krejza had taken five in 26 deliveries, and returned the fourth-best effort from an Australian bowler on debut. After being mauled for 32 in his first three overs yesterday, Krejza understandably took time to settle into his stride. Without ever looking dangerous, he plugged away and achieved some genuine spite from the flat track. Though he bled runs, Krejza’s was a very satisfactory display and he could also feel thrilled with an effort that included the wickets of Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Dhoni and Ganguly, with 31,038 Test runs between them.

Australia’s start had been a mixed bag, with Katich cracking some super drives on the off side even as Matthew Hayden was run out for 16 by a superb direct hit from M Vijay at mid-on. A couple boundaries on the up off Ishant were easy on the eye, but like Sehwag on day one, Ricky Ponting tried to cut a turning delivery and, cramped for room, was bowled for 24. It was fitting that Harbhajan’s 300th Test wicket was a man he had removed on nine previous occasions. Harbhajan became only the third offspinner to the landmark, after Lance Gibbs and Muttiah Muralitharan.Harbhajan kept bounding in to bowl a teasing line and length and asked a few questions. For the most part Katich remained unruffled and worked his steely wrists to manufacture runs both sides of the track. One cover drive was executed perfectly as he made room and stabbed the ball past two fielders. India were thoroughly frustrated by the fluency of Katich’s wristy drives and the ease with which he clipped from middle and off as he raced to 50 from just 55 deliveries.Zaheer obtained just enough reverse-swing in the last hour to keep Katich and Hussey wary. Otherwise the pair had few issues and continued with deft tucks to the onside – Hussey was adept at this – and some firm cuts past point. There is plenty of time in this Test, and Katich and Hussey have set an extremely solid platform.

Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva was denied a late move in the transfer window after the club rejected a bid from Atletico Madrid for the Portuguese international. 

The Lowdown: Key member of Guardiola’s squad

The 27-year-old was a key member of Guardiola’s side last term as they regained the Premier League title, appearing 45 times in all competitions. However, after contributing to 18 goals in the previous campaign, he only managed five goals and nine assists during the 2020/21 season. 

After appearing in every game for Portugal in Euro 2020, Silva’s future at the club seemed uncertain after it was rumoured that he was keen on a departure and that the club wouldn’t stand in his way. 

However, after being an unused substitute in the opening day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Silva has started in the subsequent two 5-0 wins over Norwich City and Arsenal and remained at the club as the transfer window came to an end. 

The Latest: Staying put for now, but there is a price

As per a report by The Mirror, City rejected a cash-plus-player offer for the midfielder from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid involving Saul Niguez, who the La Liga club were offering to Guardiola’s side in their attempts to lure Silva to Spain.

The article states that Guardiola wasn’t interested in adding the Spanish midfielder to his squad, turning down a potential late-window coup, and he was eventually loaned to Chelsea with an option to buy for £30m. 

It is believed that the move to Stamford Bridge only came about after Atletico’s offer for Silva was swiftly rejected, as the Premier League champions were demanding £40m outright to part with the 27-year-old. 

The Verdict: Good to keep ‘unstoppable’ Silva around

Silva’s influence and versatility are one of the most important aspects of Manchester City’s squad. His current manager named him ‘unstoppable’ last season as his performances helped City win their fifth Premier League title. 

With the ability to play out wide, where he isn’t used as often due to the quality of Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden, and through the middle, Silva offers more versatility to Guardiola than Saul would, with the Chelsea loanee almost exclusively a central midfielder.

Despite Fabrizio Romano’s claim that the Portugal playmaker wanted out of Manchester, Silva still has plenty of faith from his manager and will be keen to ensure that the club’s transfer stance ends up being wholly justified.

Pela segunda vez desde o fim da temporada européia, o Corinthians recebeu proposta por um jogador titular e recusou. Depois de Guilherme Arana entrar nos planos do Ajax (HOL), foi a vez de Balbuena ver o clube brasileiro garantir sua permanência ao rejeitar uma investida da Lazio (ITA) – o Genoa, do mesmo país, também tem interesse, mas não formalizou oferta até o momento. O Timão considera baixo o valor proposto pelo futebol italiano e mantém os planos de não se desfazer de nenhum titular campeão paulista em 2017.

Nos bastidores, o clube admite que será difícil não perder um ou dois jogadores a partir da abertura da janela de transferências, mas quer valorizar ao máximo seu patrimônio. Se no caso de Arana a situação é mais difícil, pois o Timão detém apenas 40% dos direitos econômicos dele, com Balbuena não há divisão: o clube é dono de 100% dos direitos do paraguaio, comprado por cerca de R$ 6 milhões do Libertad (PAR). Assim, é decisão exclusiva do Corinthians liberar ou não seu camisa 4, de 70 partidas e três gols pelo clube.

Além da rejeição às ofertas do futebol italiano informadas aos empresários Renato Bittar e Augusto Paraja, o Corinthians convocou os representantes de Balbuena para uma reunião nas próximas semanas. A ideia é iniciar contatos para renovar o contrato do zagueiro de 25 anos. O vínculo atual de Balbuena termina no fim do ano que vem e o Corinthians deseja ampliá-lo e ainda aumentar a multa rescisória, beneficiando-se em caso de transferência futura. Ainda não há negociação financeira, mas o Timão não espera problemas para renovar com Balbuena.

Desde o fim do Campeonato Paulista, o Corinthians manifestou que seus planos para o segundo semestre passavam por não negociar nenhum jogador titular. Ou, em caso de venda, só “entregar” o jogador a partir de 2018. Arana e Balbuena já receberam ofertas e outros nomes são cotados, como Fagner, Maycon e Rodriguinho.

Balbuena entra em campo neste domingo, às 11h, contra o Coritiba, pela oitava rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro.
