Leeds Interested In “Unbelievable” £5.2k-p/w Gem

There is finally an air of stability surrounding Leeds United. In quick succession, the club has gained a new ownership in the 49ers, who have purchased Andrea Radrizzani’s majority stake, and also found itself a new manager, the coveted Daniel Farke.

The German possesses an impeccable resume, and it appears an excellent first step as Leeds begin the mission to regain their Premier League status. Farke is a promotion specialist, having achieved the feat on two occasions with Norwich City and if entrusted with a suitable budget and the correct targets, he is more than capable of delivering what the Elland Road faithful so desperately craves.

Last summer, the majority of signings unravelled into disappointment, particularly in midfield. Marc Roca was signed from Bayern Munich but failed to impose any consistency or dictate proceedings, with talkSPORT host Adrian Durham saying of the Spaniard: "I’m not sure he’s a Premier League footballer."

As for Brenden Aaronson, the former Red Bull Salzburg ace was also rather disappointing throughout the campaign in his playmaking berth, having statistically been the worst player in the division, according to Sofascore.

In a frantic January, the club also opted for a headline-grabbing loan move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, but the American struggled to adapt and often drifted out of games, having arguably been "out of his depth", according to former Whites star, Jon Newsome.

The only pivot who emerged from the rubble of relegation without any sense of credibility was Tyler Adams, and if Leeds manage to keep him, they must find an adequate partner.

The Yorkshire outfit is back to square one, and they must avoid a repetition of their previous, fateful errors. They need reliability and tenacity – two traits that Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer possesses in abundance.

What’s the latest on Gustavo Hamer to Leeds United?

According to The Atheltic’s Phil Hay, Leeds are interested in the 26-year-old as part of their rebuild in a new division, with the respected insider Tweeting that the club have had a "long-standing interest" in the playmaker.

Would Gustavo Hamer be a good signing for Leeds United?

Last season, the 5 foot 7 central midfielder, described as “unbelievable”, was one of Coventry’s most consistent and influential performers. He made 45 appearances for the club across all competitions, recording the second-highest average rating (7.26) in the squad.

However, perhaps most impressively, the former Dutch youth international recorded 21 goal contributions, including the winning goal in the play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough and the equaliser in the subsequent final against Luton Town, in which his side painfully lost on penalties.

His supremely impressive campaign means that the Brazilian-born star ranks within the best 17% outside of Europe’s top five leagues for tackles per 90, successful take-ons per 90, assists per 90, and shot-creating actions per 90.

The £5.2k-per-week maestro has the perfect profile to partner with Adams, who was one of the shining lights in a torrid season for the Whites. The 24-year-old averaged the highest match rating (6.73), the second-most tackles per game (3.7), and the fourth-most interceptions (1.5) in the squad.

tyler-adams-leeds-premier-league-chelsea-transfers

His strong defensive acumen meant he resided in the top 3% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for tackles and blocks.

Both the aforementioned players pack fantastic physicality and are formidable protectors for their backlines, whilst Hamer has an added offensive threat with a keen eye for a goal or assist. The Coventry City star has displayed he is a competent second-tier performer, who can consistently excel, and he would be a smart acquisition for Farke.

West Ham Can Forget Scamacca Howler With £51m Phenomenon

The appointment of Tim Steidten as new technical director last week should ensure West Ham United steer clear of signing too many duds this summer.

While every club is guilty of overspending on players who make little impact before being moved on, there are more examples at West Ham than at most – not least with their most recent big-money acquisition.

Is Gianluca Scamacca leaving West Ham?

Scamacca joined West Ham from Sassuolo in a £35.5m deal last summer and, like Sebastian Haller and Felipe Anderson before him, he has not exactly proved value for money thus far.

The Italy international has averaged 0.29 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes over the past year, as per FBref, which ranks him in the bottom 41% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues.

Factor in that he is in the bottom 6% for assists (none last season) and in the bottom 11% for touches in the box (11 per 90), and it is clear that David Moyes could do with bringing in someone else to lead the line.

The Daily Mail previously reported that West Ham will listen to offers for Scamacca this summer, but they are only open to a permanent exit, rather than any loan deals.

Where is Lille forward Jonathan David going?

According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, West Ham are showing a strong interest in Lille's Jonathan David to effectively replace Scamacca. However, the Hammers supposedly face competition from Serie A champions Napoli and possibly also fellow Italian heavyweights Juventus.

In contrast to Scamacca, David ranks in the top 61% of his positional peers for non-penalty goals (0.40 per 90) and top 15% for touches in the opposition box (6.08 per 90).

David has a habit of popping up in dangerous positions and scores goals on a regular basis, with 24 in 37 Ligue 1 outings last season bettered only by Alexandre Lacazette (27) and Kylian Mbappe (29).

Football writer Ben Jacobs recently suggested Lille are expected to sell David this summer, with the Canada international preferring a move to the Premier League, but he will only leave if his €60m (£51m) price tag is met.

The 23-year-old is about more than just scoring goals, too, with his 81.8 pass-completion percentage last season showing he can help link play in the final third. For some added perspective, Scamacca completed 66.7% of his passes last term, while only five West Ham players could better David's tally.

David has also shown he is capable of continuing his hot streak across different leagues, having previously netted at a prolific rate in Belgium when scoring a goal every other game for Gent (30 goals in 60 games).

"He is a phenomenon. The best player in the country," former Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck said at the time, echoing the views of anyone who got to watch the Canadian up close over those two campaigns.

After tearing up the top tiers of Belgian and French football, England – and indeed West Ham – may be next on David's to-do list.

Everton: Gray In Danger As Dyche Plots Move for £16m "Beast" At Goodison Park

Everton are targeting a deal to sign Jack Harrison this summer, according to Football Insider, as Sean Dyche prepares for his first full season at Goodison Park.

Everton transfer news – will they sign Jack Harrison?

The Toffees are reportedly looking to swoop in and bring Harrison to Goodison Park this summer after the Leeds United winger suffered relegation to the Championship last season.

As per the report, the 26-year-old dynamo's current contract at Elland Road includes a release clause of just £16m following their demotion to the second tier.

With such a low fee, the Merseyside outfit may need to act fast in order to secure Harrison's signature this summer, as they begin a rebuild which Dyche will hope ensures their Premier League safety and more in the coming campaign.

Will Jack Harrison replace Demarai Gray in Everton's line-up?

jack-harrison-leeds-premier-league-everton-transfers

If Harrison does make the move to Everton this summer, then Demarai Gray should be concerned.

Since the arrival of Dyche, the former Leicester City winger has struggled to establish himself in a similar way that made him a key figure under former boss Frank Lampard, going from playing the full 90 in four consecutive games to being instantly benched in the new manager's first game in charge, against Arsenal.

The arrival of Harrison would only limit Gray's game time even more, too, given the fact that they are both wingers, primarily on the left flank, and the Leeds man is coming off the back of an impressive season in a struggling side.

During the 2022/23 campaign, the reported target was involved in 16 goals in all competitions, with six goals and 10 assists to his name as Leeds were relegated – pretty impressive returns considering just how badly the Whites struggled in front of goal.

Meanwhile, in comparison, the man that he could replace at Everton managed just seven goal involvements in all competitions – scoring six goals and assisting just one other. He also ended the season with a barren run, with nine straight games without a direct goal contribution.

That's not to say that Dyche wouldn't have a selection headache, however, as statistics show players of very similar potential and quality.

As per FBref, both players make over three progressive carries and have over 30% shots on target success per 90. The key difference, and the stat that should leave Gray worried about his place is Harrison's passing ability.

The Leeds man makes over double the amount of progressive passes per 90 than Gray, and as Everton look to finally find some goals in their side in a bid to change their fortunes on the pitch, this could be the key.

Harrison has certainly attracted praise in the past, too, even when struggling, with Kevin Phillips telling Football Insider:

"Harrison was quite brilliant last year.

"He hasn’t been anywhere near as effective as this season though which has surprised me.

“The second season is always more difficult though because people work you out, as a team and an individual. You need to come up with different ways of playing to combat that. The sign of a good player is one that is continually evolving and getting better.

"Harrison is undoubtedly a good player. It’s great that he got himself a goal. It will do his confidence the world of good."

The former Sunderland man was proved right as well, as Harrison – who was also once hailed as a "beast" by Leeds reporter Beren Cross – bounced back and could now be on his way to Everton in a move that may spark concern for Gray's future at Goodison Park.

Liverpool Most Keen On Deal For £152k-p/w "Difference Maker"

Liverpool are the most advanced club with interest in bringing Juventus forward Federico Chiesa to the Premier League, according to reports in Italy.

Who is Federico Chiesa?

Chiesa is naturally a left-sided winger who permanently arrived at the Allianz Stadium last summer following a successful two-year loan from Fiorentina, as per Transfermarkt, and he’s since gone on to make a total of 94 appearances across both spells.

The Italy international still has another two years remaining on his contract with Massimiliano Allegri’s side but Corriere dello Sport have claimed that he doesn’t feel part of the project and could therefore be considering a departure during the upcoming window.

Speaking to GiveMeSport back in February, reliable journalist Pete O’Rourke suggested that the 25-year-old could be a player that FSG and Jurgen Klopp might be “looking at” as an option, and it would appear that he’s right if the following update is to be believed.

Are Liverpool signing Chiesa?

According to Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), Chiesa has “English sirens” going off for him with Newcastle and Manchester United both keen on a deal, but it’s Liverpool who are “above all” when it comes to the strongest interest.

The Reds manager is reportedly “in particular very intrigued” by his target and he and the rest of the hierarchy would like to “give him the chance of moving to the Premier League”.

Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

Could Chiesa be a good addition for Klopp?

Liverpool will be aware that Chiesa missed 17 Serie A games with various injury and fitness issues last season, but he’s still shown what he’s capable of when on the field, having been dubbed a “difference maker” and "one of the most exciting players around" by journalist Josh Bunting.

The LIAN Sports Group client, who earns £152k-per-week, posted seven goal contributions (five assists and two goals) in 21 league appearances during the previous term and was averaging 4.34 shot-creating actions per game, which was the third-highest total in his squad, as per FBRef, despite him spending a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

He would also add wonderful versatility to the boss’ squad with his ability to operate in seven different positions across the pitch, including everywhere across the frontline and even three roles in the midfield.

While signings in the centre of the park are being viewed as a priority for Liverpool this summer and understandably so given last season's struggles there, the Reds could have the best of both worlds by bringing someone like Chiesa to Anfield.

One Party Now "Optimistic" Of Completing Man United Takeover

Manchester United bidders INEOS, who are fronted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are 'cautiously optimistic' over their chances of sealing a deal to take over at Old Trafford, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

What's the latest takeover news involving Manchester United?

As per Sky Sports, Ratcliffe and his petrochemicals firm INEOS are said to be the 'leading candidate' to assume control of Manchester United from the Glazer family.

The report states that Ratcliffe wants to buy a majority controlling stake in the Premier League giants that would leave Joel and Avram Glazer in minority stakeholding positions and INEOS remain the preferred option despite a new offer from rival bidder Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani.

Former Manchester United icon Gary Neville has spoken about his frustration surrounding the ownership debacle on Twitter, stating: "Plainly obvious the Glazer family aren’t going to announce anything on the ownership until the season is closed! They’ve been spinning it out unprofessionally for weeks and months now. They know fan protests would have been more significant than they already have if matches were still being played and the end result of the sale process is unpopular."

INEOS want to purchase 69% of the club, whereas Sheikh Jassim and the Nine Two Foundation want to claim 100% of Manchester United and clear debt owed by the club, as per GOAL.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jacobs thinks that Ratcliffe and his INEOS team will be quietly confident over their chances of becoming the new owners of the Red Devils.

Jacobs told FFC: "INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have a flexible offer on the table, they're prepared to get in control of the club and allow Joel and Avram Glazer to stay, but they're also prepared to buy 69% of the football club. As a consequence of that and because their valuation is higher than the Nine Two Foundation, at around £6.5 billion, there's less of a negotiation there and more questioning around technical points of that bid and INEOS remain cautiously optimistic."

What next for Manchester United?

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag will be keen to focus on matters on the field and will be readying his side for another tilt at trophy glory this weekend as they prepare to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

The Red Devils have already recorded Carabao Cup success this term and Ten Hag will want to add another trophy to his cabinet to complement what has been a commendable season in charge as his side will also have Champions League football to look forward to in 2023/24.

Chelsea's Mason Mount

Transfer targets will also be on the agenda for Manchester United and they are reportedly going to make a 'formal approach' to try and acquire Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, as per Sky Sports.

Mount may be the first of several arrivals at Old Trafford as things get set to hot up on and off the pitch at Manchester United in the next few weeks.

£120k-p/w Arsenal Man "Not Happy" After Substitution

Daily Mail journalist Daniel Matthews has revealed that Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was unhappy after being subbed off in the club's recent win.

What's the latest on Arsenal and Oleksandr Zinchenko?

Coming up against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, the Gunners picked up a vital three points in their pursuit of Premier League glory.

Indeed, their 2-0 win away at St James' Park leaves Mikel Arteta and his team just one point behind Manchester City – albeit having played one extra game.

Martin Odegaard's goal in the first put Arsenal ahead and then they managed to double their lead when Gabriel Martinelli's cross bounced in off Fabian Schar for an own goal.

While Arteta would have been delighted with the result, it seems as though not every involved on the day was happy. Indeed, as noted on Twitter, Zinchenko seemed to be angry when subbed off.

Matthews explained: "Zinchenko not happy at being brought off. Shook his head and then shouted 'F**k. Off.' as he reached the bench."

Has Zinchenko been in bad form?

Now there's every chance that the £120k-p/w ace was mainly unhappy with his own performance. After all, during his time on the pitch, Zinchenko earned the lowest Sofascore rating of any Arsenal starter (6.8).

What's more, in the football.london player ratings, journalist Kaya Kaynak said: "Defensively left them [Arsenal] exposed at times. Wasn't necessarily surprising to see him taken off on the hour mark."

Indeed, after 61 minutes – having been "turned inside out" by Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy – Arteta had had enough of the left-back and took him off in favour of Kieran Tierney.

Maybe Zinchenko swore because he's subbed off early in all but two of his last ten league outing but it does seem more likely that he was venting frustration at his own subpar performance.

After all, his level does seem to have dropped in recent weeks. For example, his SofaScore rating in recent games against Southampton and Manchester City was down at 6.0 and 6.2, which is a notable drop-off from his average 6.93.

Arsenal defenderKieran Tierney

With that in mind, perhaps Arteta will consider bringing in Tierney for one of the club's remaining games in the north London club's season.

After all, the Scotland international did well in his cameo against Newcastle as he picked up an 8/10 in the football.london player ratings.

Kaynak also wrote: "Superb defensively after coming on. Brought back a level of defensive control that Arsenal were lacking before his introduction."

Sean Dyche Confirms Relegation-Threatening Injury Blow

Everton will be without Ben Godfrey when they face Brighton on Monday as their injury list grows amid their fight for Premier League survival.

The Blues are in a scrap to avoid relegation and find themselves mired in 19th place. There is hope, however, as the three teams above them (Forest, Leeds and Leicester) are all on 30 points. This means a single win could catapult them into a far safer position.

Sean Dyche briefed the media on his side's worrying injury situation on Thursday as they travel to the Amex Stadium to face Roberto De Zerbi's side on Monday evening.

What is the Everton injury update?

Speaking at his press conference, Dyche first reported that Amadou Onana will be available which is a major boost given how important his pace and power are to the Blues' midfield. After recovering from illness, Onana will likely return to the side after only making the bench for the 2-2 draw with Leicester.

A massive blow, however, comes in the form of Seamus Coleman's knee injury. The positive news for Everton fans is that it is not an ACL injury, but it likely will force him to miss the remainder of the season.

Godfrey, Dyche revealed, will also miss the Brighton game, telling the assembled reporters: "Godfrey's groin is still not right so he will take a bit of time."

Meanwhile, both Andros Townsend and Ruben Vinagre remain unavailable for selection as Everton head into their final four games of the season.

Can Everton make the most of the last four games?

Each relegation candidate has played 34 games and so there is something of a level playing field heading into the final four games of the season.

It's going to be an enthralling fight for survival as each of the teams with a chance to avoid relegation face tricky final fixtures.

Everton face Brighton before Manchester City and Wolves with their final game of the season at Goodison Park against Bournemouth. With so much riding on these remaining games, Dyche and his players will need the home fans to drag their team across the line.

Supporters will be hoping that the teams above them drop further points with Leicester facing possible the second-trickiest final batch of games. They must face Fulham, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham.

Leeds United fans are sure to be nervous as they square up against Man City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs.

Nottingham Forrest don't have a much easier run of games either with Southampton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace to face before their Premier League fate is determined.

The bottom line for Everton supporters is that it's not over until it's mathematically impossible.

Aston Villa Could Sign "Scoring Machine" For £0

Aston Villa reporter John Townley has name-checked Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as a player who Villa could sign for free this summer.

Have Villa been linked with Dembele and what’s Townley said?

Unai Emery is leading the club in a late push for European football on the pitch in the Premier League, while preparations for his first full season in charge appear to be underway in the background.

Reports have suggested that NSWE will back the Spaniard with a ‘huge’ summer budget which could see the club’s transfer record being smashed.

However, despite the finances available, Villa could also look at the free agent market. Dembele was linked with a move to the Midlands back in January and an approach was even made over a potential deal.

Emery is thought to be a ‘big fan’ of the 26-year-old, who has been described by journalist Bertrand Latour as a ‘scoring machine’, and with Dembele out of contract in the summer, speculation over a move to Villa Park has returned.

Townley shared a story for Birmingham Live in the last 48 hours, looking at ten free agents Villa could target this summer. One of those is Dembele, with the reporter saying that Villa did express an interest in the New Year and that the Frenchman is on the hunt for a new challenge.

Unai Emery instructs his Aston Villa side as they face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Ideal competition for Watkins?

Emery has reportedly pulled the plug on signing a new marquee first-choice striker due to the impressive form of Ollie Watkins in 2023. However, another forward could still be of use in the Midlands, with Jhon Duran currently the only competition to Watkins at this moment in time.

Cameron Archer could well be knocking on the door next season after his successful loan spell with Middlesbrough which has seen him contribute to 15 Championship goals in 17 appearances, but signing someone like Dembele for free may prove to be a wise move.

The Lyon man netted a career-best 21 times in Ligue 1 last season and has scored 140 career goals for his current employers, Celtic and Fulham.

You’d like to think he still has plenty left to give at the highest level at the age of 26, so a move to the Premier League could well be of interest to Dembele after making just two appearances in the top flight before moving to Celtic, and who knows, Villa may be able to offer European football as well.
